Dear {:firstName},

This month I want to share some really interesting real estate stats that have just been released; gift you with a complimentary e-book on Depreciation;  and share the latest ZPE News for November.

Running the Numbers

Reports from Domain are estimating $3 billion worth of property to change hands in Sydney alone this month, and more than 5,000 people expected to attend live auctions. If you recall my ‘bet’ a few months back – is it any wonder these numbers are remaining strong with the interest rates staying so low?

The ABS also released their 3rd Quarter Property Price Index figures for the residential market and they tell a slightly different story to the high numbers from Domain. National residential property values rose 1.5% over the quarter and a 9.1% gain over the year – which is 1% down from the 10.1% growth recorded for the half year figures.

Within these figures, growth was driven by Sydney where prices grew 2.7% over the 3 months. Melbourne produced the next highest Year-On-Year growth with 6.9%, following by Brisbane (6.7%), Adelaide (5.6%), Hobart (4.3%) and Perth (3.7%).

The total Australian residential market is valued at approximately $5.3 trillion which is $200 million up from the first quarter statistics, which is seen in the 8.6% rise in average property price which now sits at $563,100.

As pointed out by MacroBusiness, “This suggests that Australian housing is currently around 3.3 times the size of the economy, as measured by GDP, and roughly $223,700 per man, women and child. No wonder we are one of the “wealthiest” nations on earth!

Complimentary Property Depreciation E-book

Property depreciation is one of those things that homebuyers seem to overlook all the time. There is this misconception that because we are living in a rising market, we only pay tax on the capital gains and forget about the claims we can make against natural depreciation of the asset itself.

Discover some of the myths and truths about property depreciation thanks to Tyron Hyde, Director of Washington Brown, Australian Quantity Surveyors.

The Hidden Messages in Water

To celebrate the life of Japanese author and entrepreneur Dr. Masaru Emoto who passed away in October at the age of 71, our Book of the Month is his highly interesting and thought provoking book, "The Hidden Messages In Water."

Using high-speed photography, Dr. Masaru Emoto discovered that crystals formed in frozen water reveal changes when specific, concentrated thoughts are directed toward them. He found that water from clear springs and water that has been exposed to loving words shows brilliant, complex, and colourful snowflake patterns.

In contrast, polluted water, or water exposed to negative thoughts - forms incomplete, asymmetrical patterns with dull colours. The implications of this research create a new awareness of how we can positively impact the earth and our personal health.
