Naomi Findlay, Australia’s Rapid Renovation Expert, shares the 21 common mistakes renovators make and her personal advice on how to avoid them.
When you’re running a renovation business, ignoring technology and innovation is making things harder for yourself.
For me, renovating for wealth is all about freedom. The freedom that it gives us lies in lifestyle, financial stability, and creativity. Now, one of the important things for me that other renovators get wrong is that they don’t embrace any of the technological advances that can really make life easy.
As many of you know, I have four children and I’ve renovated many properties while I was pregnant, while I was feeding, or while I had young newborn babies. I remember one time when I was working on a fantastic little old miner’s cottage, I had a five-week-old baby. The only way that I was able to manage that project was using technology.
Back then, it was common for tasks to be allocated. For example, at 3 am, I feed and at 10 pm, I do videos for my trades. That was common for all hours of the night. There has to be constant communication and transparency for us to be able to really be cohesive as a team. It couldn’t have happened at all without technology. So, for me, technology in renovation means freedom.
So, how do you get it?
There are so many apps and so many platforms available now that can really help you with sharing of information, sharing of files, having video conferences and even really just communicating and making sure that your team knows that you’re there.
So don’t ignore any of new technology. It’s what will give you the freedom to work from your home, from your pool, and from your existing job. It can even provide you a chance to have one, two or three projects at once.
Technology is your friend so embrace it. Renovating for wealth will be full of freedom for you.
