Online Experts and Website Wizards, Matt and Liz Raad, welcome in 2020 with their New Year market update, and share insights into what’s been happening recently, and what’s likely to come from this exciting investment marketplace.
Liz: Hi and Happy New Year from Liz and Matt…
Matt: G’day everyone!
Liz: What we’d like to do is give you an update for 2020… the new decade… and what’s happening in the online marketplace… it really is going to be an exciting year!
Matt: Kicking it off with some examples from our students, we’ve just had Mark who has just doubled the income off his website and he’s already made his money back in less than 6 months…
Liz: I’ve been talking to Pete, who bought 3 sites and his goal was to crack a $1,000 and he did it in just 81 days…
Matt: And we should mentioned this, Pete works a full-time job and he was just doing this passively in the background!
Matt: Plus one of our sites which we bought half way through last year, and we’ve just done the figures up until January 15th and we’ve already doubled the monthly income on that one, so very happy! Oh and we bought that one on what’s called a 20x monthly multiple…
Liz: So now that just brought the buy price down to 10x, woohoo! Means we’ll pay it off in half the time!
Liz: Now, lots of exciting things happening in this marketplace and what we’re seeing is a huge boom of growth in the number of website listings and the number of website brokers coming online now. What that means is that we’ve got more and more people becoming aware that they can sell their websites, and more and more people enabling that to happen, which is really good to see and is increasing the market size.
Matt: Things we’ve been doing is networking with a bunch of these brokers and these are brokers that are new… I’ve had two or three conversations this week from around the world, and they are all reporting that their last two years sale volumes have been going through the roof in terms of website size and numbers of listings as well… so there’s still stacks of opportunity right now!
Matt: The other really interesting thing we’re seeing is that there’s starting to be some really big deals happening… 7 figures… 8 figures… we’re starting to see private equity companies come in… individual high networks… and even some specific website investing companies are being set up around the world as well, and they guys are coming out and buying up good quality websites… so for you guys who are building good websites, the really good news is that you’re going to have an awesome opportunity to potentially sell these websites to some very big buyers, who often make quick decisions.
Matt: It’s really interesting times, especially for us coming from our mergers and acquisitions background to see so much activity in this space!
