Welcome to your May 2020 newsletter. It’s been a busy month!
We’ve held 4 back-to-back webinars in 22-days and not one of them was on property! – Hard to believe I know, but as this unprecedented situation unfolds, I just don’t think the prospects for property strategies are as solid as they use to be.
Clearly we haven’t been recommending Airbnb, Renovations or Small Developments in this environment. That doesn’t mean we won’t again in future, it just means, I think there are better options right now.
Also, that doesn’t mean you can’t make money in property by adding value right now, because you can. But, and here’s the but... you’ve got to be very good at them! You also likely have to pivot or adjust your strategy in some way to keep it viable.
I’ve been pivoting to give you the best viable strategies in this market place, and in particular, one’s that enable you to earn income from home, or anywhere in the world. Remember, there is a lag time in business, and this June quarter 2020 reporting season for business is likely to be the worst on record... ever!!
So whilst things feel like they are opening up, restrictions easing etc, be cautious. Job security is degrading, as companies realise they can do more with less.
Mortgage stress is increasing and property prices are on their way down. These are nation-wide trends. So things could get worse before they get better.
I’ve seen figures suggesting 8% of property investors were looking to sell last month and this increased to 12% this month. There could be an opportunity to sell out well in the next few months and spring if that’s what you are thinking.
I’m pretty sure there’s an entire global financial reset going on right now behind the scenes, and exactly what that looks like remains to be seen.
I’m also favouring a much better world on the other side of this, but first we all have to get through this transition in the best shape possible.
